Photo of the Day: Odawara Castle

Built in early 15th century, the Odawara Castle was the residence of the Odawara Hojo clan, an influential feudal family during the period of civil war in Japan. The castle was abandoned in the early Meiji era and its buildings and stone walls were destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923. The castle tower was been rebuilt in 1960.
