Nikiya Kaiseki

Last week, my wife went to Saitama, just north of Tokyo, to have a special lunch with her friends in a restaurant called Nikiya.  She took all the pictures in this blog post.

Lots of tigers in this display commemorating the Year of the Tiger.

The decor in the restaurant changes with the season, so they had a special Hina dolls exhibit, some over 100 years old.

Lunch was called the Hinamatsuri kaiseki course. Kaiseki is a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner.

On the grounds, there was a beautiful Japanese garden, with plum blossom (ume) trees in bloom, with some Hina dolls scattered about.

Aren’t these excellent pictures?  I think my wife is already a better photographer than me – she is definitely the more artistic member of the family!
