Photo of the Day: Mikoshi Procession
A mikoshi (portable shrine) procession passes through a stone torii gate during Yushima Tenjin Shrine Matsuri (May 2010) in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo.
Please visit this week’s issue (#22) of Show Me Japan which is once again hosted by Lisa at ichigoichielove.

This may be the first time I’ve seen so much yellow in a procession like that. (o.O) Temple colours I wonder?
Thanks for participating in Show Me Japan and have a great weekend!!
I liked the contrast in colors between the yellow and grey … the yellow robes were worn by the young priests who were pushing/pulling the mikoshi.
