Tokyo Tower
Opened in 1958, Tokyo Tower is currently the tallest completed structure in Japan at 333 meters (Tokyo Sky Tree is now taller, but is still under construction).
It weighs 4,000 tons, made of strong, lightweight steel and painted a distinct orange and white according to the Civil Aeronautic Law.
There are two observation decks, the main entrance fee is 820 yen ($8) and an additional 600 yen ($6) for the special observation level.
As a major landmark of Japan, the Tower Tower attracts many visitors, both locals and tourists – by the busloads!
These pictures were taken during Children’s Day (as part of Japan’s Golden Week in early May) so koinobori (carp) streamers were hung around the tower base.
As well, there was a special exhibition of Michael Jackson memorabilia on display – apparently only at Tokyo Tower.
Noppon is the Tokyo Tower twin mascots.
It won’t be so busy after Sky Tree opens.
True … I hear the Sky Tree is already attracting a lot of visitors, and it hasn’t opened yet. I can’t imagine (or maybe I can) the crowds when it really opens next year.
Cool tower. And that IS slot of buses
Does this remind you of another (and probably more famous) tower?
